New London Jack Frost Dinner, 2016

by Jaimie Jusczyk, Co-op Marketing Specialist
The snow was falling on the town green, the bonfires were lit and local restaurants were ready to serve hot and delicious appetizers to eager locals, all for the New London Recreation Departments Jack Frost Dinner as part of their Third Annual Winter Carnival weekend.
A sold out event, the Jack Frost Dinner was a great way to warm up, have some laughs your neighbors and experience local cuisine in a unique setting. The Co-op’s New London Store Manager Mark and myself, served Deconstructed Stuffed Cabbage with petite rolls. Executive Chef Rob and his team in the Co-op kitchen impressed our hungry guests as word got around, “You have got to try the Co-op’s cabbage!”
I took a short break during the event to sample what else was on offer. There was mac’n’cheese with short ribs, turkey stew with dumplings, potage lyonnaise, seafood chowder, and Waikiki meatballs to name a few. For dessert I scoffed down cinnamon knots with a sugary glaze, butterscotch bread pudding, cookies and hot chocolate! As I carried myself back to our station I quickly joined in the conversations about how “yummy” the evening was.
