Co-op COVID-19 Updates

Throughout the COVID-19 outbreak, your Concord Food Co-op is working hard to keep our two stores operating safely for all. This has meant that we have needed to adjust our operating programs, policies and procedures. These changes are provided below. We will continue to update this page so that you will have a central location for all Co-op policy changes related to COVID- 19.

Dear Members and Community,

We were informed that 2 staff members in our store recently tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).  We are actively working with and following guidelines from the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and from the City of Concord. The staff members in question last worked on December 24, 2020 and December 30, 2020.

NH DHHS asked us to contact anyone who has been identified as having had close contact with the infected person (within 6 feet for a total of 10 cumulative minutes or more in a 24-hour period, beginning 2 days prior to first illness onset or collection of positive test results, whichever is earlier). We have already contacted those identified individuals and instructed them on how to self-quarantine at home.

Across our co-ops, we require all staff exhibiting symptoms of respiratory illness or fever to stay home, contact our HR department, and notify their physician. Since the beginning of this pandemic, all staff members are screened daily at the start of their shift for symptoms and have their temperatures taken. We implemented rigorous cleaning practices throughout our store back in March which includes more frequent cleanings of high-touch areas across our entire co-op.

Our co-op prides itself on its cleanliness and food safety standards, and we are taking multiple steps to best serve you, care for our staff, and be a responsible member of our community.

12/1 Our temporary Senior Discount on Thursdays is coming to an end. Senior discount days will be on Sundays & Tuesdays.

7/31 Beginning Monday, August 3, our Concord location will remain open until 7 pm Monday – Saturday.

7/20 All shoppers are required to wear face mask.  

5/18 The Co-op hours are as follows:

  • Sunday    9-6   (9-10 seniors/immunocompromised) 
  • Monday  8-6
  • Tuesday  7-6   (7-8  seniors/immunocompromised)
  • Wednesday  8-6
  • Thursday  7-6  (7-8 seniors/immunocompromised)
  • Friday  8-6
  • Saturday 8-6

5/4 Per state guidelines, Customers should wear face masks/coverings at all times while in the Co-op.   Free masks are available at our customer service desk for those who need one.

4/21 Co-op employees are required to wear face masks while on the sales floor.

4/20 Free Curbside Pickup service is offered to all shoppers. Inside shopping remains available. 

4/10 As of Monday 4/13 Sushi will be CLOSED until further notice.

4/3 We have added an additional senior discount day. Senior Co-op Owners will receive their 15% Senior Discount on Sundays, Tuesdays, and temporarily Thursdays.

4/3 Beginning 4/6 our New London Location will be CLOSING AT 4 PM DAILY

4/2  Curbside Pickup online order form available! Simply fill out our online order form, submit, and when your order is ready, we will call you to take your payment over the phone. Click Here for Curbside Pickup order form. Orders may be placed Monday-Friday until 1 PM.

3/27  Beginning Monday 3/30 the Co-op will be  CLOSING AT 6 PM DAILY

3/27 Effective today, the coffee service is closed.

3/23  We will be unable to accept the use of containers brought from home to be reused in the store. Please use a new bag, container, cup, jar or bottle for your products.

Curb-Side Pickup for At-Risk shoppers

3/18/2020 Beginning Monday 3/23/2020 the Co-op will offer Curb-Side Pickup for At-Risk** shoppers. This temporary program will be available Monday-Friday until further notice. Customers interested in participating should call the store to place an order. Orders may be placed between 9am-1pm for same-day pickup. Here's how it works:

  • Call the Concord store at 603-225-6840 and ask to place an order for pickup
  • We will gather your order based on product availability
  • A staff member will call you when your order is ready, note any out of stocks, and give you an order total
  • We will charge your card over the phone and hold your order for up to 24 hours
  • When you come to pick up your order, call the store. We will bring your order out to your vehicle.
  • WITH LIMITED STAFF RESOURCES, PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO OFFER THIS SERVICE TO AT RISK* INDIVIDUALS. **At-Risk is defined as anyone over the age of 60, or has a health condition that increases risk of complications related to COVID-19.

    3/18 Effective immediately and until further notice, the Co-op is not able to take Buyers Club or special orders. 

    3/17   Temporary Return Policy.  Until further notice items that are free from manufacturer defect will not be eligible for returns or exchanges.

    3/17 Beginning 3/20, the Co-op Concord location will open an hour earlier each day to serve only customers who are age 60 and over, or has a health condition that increases risk of complications related to COVID-19.

    3/17 The Co-op will make the following food service adjustments:

    • Salad Bar closed- Selection of Café packaged fresh salads available for purchase at the Salad Bar.
    • Hot Bar closed- Café packaged entrees and sides available for purchase at our Grab & Go
    • Olive Bar closed- Cafe packaged selection available at our Grab & Go
    • The Bakery’s chicken pot pies and more available in the frozen case.
    • As always- Sushi, Sandwiches, quiche and more at the Grab & Go
    • If you have any questions when shopping for your packaged meal, the Cafe staff is ready to help. The Chef said, “We can make it happen.”

    3/16 Midday Movement (Yoga for All) CANCELED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. Join us every Tuesday and Thursday from 12:15 to 12:45 at the Bank of NH Stage for a 30 minute Yoga session.

    3/16 The Co-op has closed our dining area until further notice.  Thank you for your understanding.

     Dear Co-op Customers,

    We wanted to let you know that we take the health and safety of our Co-op community seriously. The Concord Food Co-op is committed to keeping you and your family safe and healthy. We are closely monitoring the current COVID-19 outbreak and following the recommendations of the CDC, FDA, and the NH DHHS.

    At our two locations, we practice rigorous cleaning procedures throughout the entire store. We focus heavily on sanitation and food safety and we have increased our use of sanitizing agents, including implementing more frequent sanitation of check-out areas, baskets, shopping carts, and door handles.

    Food safety is of the upmost importance at the Co-op. Our employees must follow a strict set of procedures when handling a wide variety of products from prepared foods to fresh items. We strictly enforce personal hygiene techniques that are most effective at combating viruses, such as hand washing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. We ask staff to stay home if they are feeling ill. At the Co-op, employees are encouraged to use their paid time off, stay home, and reduce the spread of illness. We offer a comprehensive benefits package with healthcare coverage so employees are not making the difficult choice of choosing to forego a visit to the doctor’s office due to concerns over out of pocket expenses and we will work with employees on a case by case basis to ensure that they have the support they need. We have all also suspended food sampling throughout the store.

    We’ve experienced a high demand for products such as cleaning supplies and hand sanitizers. We’re working closely with our suppliers to provide you with the products you need. We’re searching for new sources of supplies to ensure that products remain available
