A section of the Concord Food Co-op’s mission is to conduct our affairs according to consumer cooperative principles. One of those principals is concern for community. The Co-op delivers on this objective through outreach; outreach is an activity of providing services to populations who might not otherwise have access to those services. A core component of the Co-op’s outreach is our Community Partners Program, whereby member-owners vote annually to select charitable organizations to provide meaningful support.

On 3/29 the Friends Program, that managed the temporary cold weather shelter, thanked the individuals and organizations that helped make the shelter possible. The Concord Food Co-op provided a complimentary pasta dinner for the event.  The Concord Food Co-op played a critical operational role for the shelter by managing the 775 volunteer shifts that were covered during the 82 nights that the facility was open.  During the duration of the program there were 172 individual guests, with a nightly average of 30. Of those that required shelter, 5% were children.

The Co-op donated a pasta dinner on Tuesday, March 29, for the volunteers who helped run the Concord Winter Homeless Shelter at St. Peter’s Church for 2015/16 winter.
