We support local, independent, and organic farmers whenever possible and are committed to promoting sustainable agriculture and biodiversity.
Many of our beautiful vegetables come from certified organic local farms such as the Vegetable Ranch, Kearsarge Gore Farm, Good Earth Farm, Snow Dragon Mountain Farm, Willoughby Farm, and Moonshine Farm Organics, all just a short jaunt from the Co-op. Apples and strawberries come from Apple Hill Farm in Concord, heirloom tomatoes from Rusty's Heirloom Tomatoes in Dunbarton, transitional organic greens from Generation Farm in Concord, organic blueberries from Blueberry Gardens in Pittsfield. We also get fresh, local corn and other vegetables from Dimond Hill Farm in Concord. Brookford Farm in Canterbury supplies vegetables as well as dairy and flour. We also enjoy herbs, fruit, and vegetables from our neighbors at Black River Produce and Harvest Hill Farm in Vermont. We also carry specialty items such as Micro Mama's local and organic fermented vegetables made in Weare, gourmet mushrooms from New Hampshire Mushroom Company,
These are just a few of our many local and regional growers. Our produce department is one of our crowning glories.

In New London
Our sister store offers seasonal local produce from Muster Field Farm in New London, and from other local vendors whenever possible. The selection varies from season to season but we are happy to support our local farmers and provide quality produce to our local community.
Are you a farmer or backyard gardener looking to sell your fresh produce to the Co-op? We are always looking to offer a greater variety of goodies on our shelf! Call our produce manager at 603-225-6840 to talk prices, availability, and delivery times. We strongly prefer organic and naturally grown methods, and we are particularly interested in specialty produce.
If one section of the store symbolizes the Co-op and the co-op food store movement, it’s the bulk department. Bulk goods are the perfect way to save money, reduce packaging waste, and access otherwise hard-to-find health foods. The Co-op has made it easy for you.
You can simply walk up to our extensive bulk section and fill your container with exactly the amount you want. You can use the bags and containers we provide at no extra charge, or bring in your own containers from home to refill (just be sure to get the container’s weight, or “tare,” from a cashier first). The selection of products available in bulk is astounding and always changing as we adapt it to meet our customers’ needs. The goodness of whole grains, beans, and legumes forms the backbone of any natural food store, and we have approximately 40 different whole grains, locally milled flour, oatmeal, gluten-free grains, and varieties of rice.
You can flavor your food for pennies with the Co-op’s selection of 50+ bulk herbs and spices from Frontier Co-op, which includes sea salt, xanthan gum, cocoa powder, and other kitchen needs. You can top off your bottles with olive oil, tamari, agave nectar, local raw honey, and local organic maple syrup. We even offer bulk kombucha on tap in the produce department from Aqua Vitea. Other popular favorites include nuts, seeds, nut butters, granola, candy, Equal Exchange fair-trade organic coffee, dried fruit, and more! Fill your jugs with bulk all-natural cleaning products and castile soap, too.
Many of these same products are available on a smaller scale in our New London store.
Meat & Dairy
The Co-op's fresh and frozen meat, poultry, and pork are among the best-selling products in the whole store! That’s because we are one of the few places customers can go to find trustworthy sources of a wide range of types and cuts of meat. All of the farms we purchase from are free-range and do not use antibiotics or added hormones.
Local, Grass-Fed, Organic
We carry certified organic meats; however, our customers particularly enjoy our offerings from hard-to-find New England Farms including Miles Smith, Misty Knoll, Brookford Farm, and North Hollow Farm. These small- and medium-scale farms provide a more humane environment for their grass-fed livestock, and this comes through with healthier meat that is higher in omega 3s and lower in saturated fat. Our quality national organic and natural lines include Applegate Farms, Niman Ranch, Organic Prairie, and Smart Chicken.
Straight from the farm.
The dairy case includes a fully stocked dairy cooler with raw milk from Brookford Farm and Barlett Farm, organic dairy products from Organic Valley, yogurt, butter, local eggs, and a wide range of vegan alternatives.
Fast, Healthy, Delicious Sushi
At Hissho Sushi in the Concord store, freshly prepared sushi daily on-site is the only way we roll. Every day, our talented chefs prepare delicious sushi that will keep your customers happy and healthy.
Hissho Sushi searches the world markets for only the highest quality products. Our seafood, rice, vinegar, soy and other ingredients are procured and tested at our state-of-the-art distribution facility. Our chefs buy fruits and vegetables locally to ensure absolute freshness.
You will never find artificial coloring in Hissho Sushi’s natural wasabi and ginger. We offer multi-grain and brown rice, as well as traditional sushi rice, and many of our items are vegetarian and vegan. Our products consistently maintain the health benefits and authentic taste of true Japanese sushi.
Whether you’re hosting a wine and cheese party, putting together the perfect cheese plate, or aiming to make the most amazing grilled cheese ever, we strive to carry the best cheese in a range of types and prices to fit your needs.
We specialize in New Hampshire-made cheese including Heart Song Farm, Robie Farm, Brookford Farm, Agape Homestead Farm, Sawyer’s Artisinal Cheese, Sandwich Creamery, and Boggy Meadow Farm. And since cheese making has attained such popularity in Vermont, you’ll also find a good core of regional cheeses in our case, such as Grafton Village Cheese, Vermont Creamery, and Maplebrook Farm.
Diversity of Cheeses & Accompaniments
We round it out our cheese selection with some of the best authentic European cheeses and unique cheeses from throughout the United States. You’ll find cheese made from goat, sheep, and cow’s milk, as well as specialty products to serve along with your cheese. If you prefer organic, you'll find several options by Organic Valley and Neighborly Farms of Vermont. Our cheese department highlights crackers that are meant to go with cheese (not compete with it), including locally made Craquelins Artisanal Flatbread Crisps, as well as quince paste, Vermont Smoke and Cure sausage, Olli Salumeria Artisan Salame, and Farnum Hill Ciders. Non-dairy “cheese” can be found in our dairy case.
Cheese Tasting Classes at the Co-op
The first Wednesday of the month join us in the Concord store for Cheesy Wine Down Wednesday, a class in cheese tasting with wine or beer pairings. For more information click here!
Beer & Wine
The Co-op works closely with representatives from both brewers and distributors to keep up with the latest seasonal offerings, and we often host beer tastings at Member Appreciation Weekends and at special Co-op events like our annual Farm Festival to give you an opportunity to try it before you buy it.
We offer a 10% off "case discount" when you purchase six or more bottles of wine.
Our beer selection changes seasonally, with rarities that can be difficult to find in other stores. We carry single bottles, four- and six-pack selections. Our standard brands include New England microbrews including White Birch Brewing, Canterbury AleWorks, Allagash Brewing Company, and Peak Organic Brewing Company. We also offer Samuel Smith Brewery, Goose Island Beer Co., and gluten-free New Planet Beer.
The Hippo - Best Wine Shop in Concord 2014We carry choice reds, whites, rose, sparkling, and specialty wines. Our top shelf features local vineyards and wineries including LaBelle Winery, Jewell Towne Vineyards, Hermit Woods Winery , and Coffin Cellars Winery. We also carry national, imported, and organic wines.
Expand your palate with our diverse selection of honey wines, or mead, from regional companies such as Sap House Meadery and Moonlight Meadery.
New England is known for our crisp apples, and we are proud to offer quality hard ciders made locally by Farnum Hill Ciders, as well as certified organic cider by Samuel Smith.
We understand that many people don't just shop at the Co-op just because we have great, all-natural, local, and organic food. For customers with special diets, we are the only place they can meet all their grocery needs in one stop.
Our entire grocery department is coded so that you can find gluten-free products quickly and easily. We scan every product that enters the store. If the label indicates that it is gluten-free, then we use an orange sticker for the shelf price label. You'll find an alternative to just about any gluten- or wheat-based treat!
Our Bakery and Café frequently offer items made without gluten ingredients, and you are also welcome to special order gluten-free or "flourless" goods. However, please understand that because we are a small, full-service kitchen, traces of allergens may still be present.
Vegetarian, Vegan & Dairy Free
We are the best place in the area for animal-free groceries! We carry a wide range of vegetarian and vegan products throughout the store - from Tufurky "turkey" to Divine Burgers, Cafe Indigo sweets to Daiya Foods shredded "cheese," and Coconut Bliss ice cream to an enormous array of "milks" and creamers made from coconut, soy, rice, hemp, oats, almonds...
And of course, our Café frequently features vegetarian and vegan dishes and soups on our daily hot bar, our Bakery offers vegan cookies, and we are always happy to create something for your special order.
Other Special Diets
Because allergies and food sensitities are a major concern for natural food store shoppers, many of our brands, such as Enjoy Life, offer goods that are egg-free, nut-free, and free of other common allergens.
